War: Spill Your (Emotional) Guts

You speak of peace.
What about peace for the people who have been under the rule of Saddam Hussein since 1979?
What about peace for the loved ones of the hundreds of Iraquis who were "cleansed" from Saddam's regime?
What about peace for the Iranians who endured an eight year attack from Iraq?
What about peace for the people of Kuwait?
I also speak of peace.

As I write this I am listening to NPR. I am listening to bombs drop on Baghdad and I am scared. I am scared for the Iraqi people. I am scared for the men and women soldiers of the Coalition of the Bullied. I am scared for the American and the Israeli civilians who will face renewed and invigorated terror attacks. I am scared for the Palestinians who will face renewed and invigorated retaliation. I am scared for future generations who will live in a world where it is OK for the most powerful countries to attack the less powerful whenever they feel like it.
You can't kill for peace. You can fight for peace, but the battles are not waged with tanks and precision missiles. They are waged with diplomacy and international organizations and foreign aide money and time. This is a more difficult battle than bombing cities. Unfortunately, it is a battle President Bush and his Coalition do not seem willing to face.
