University World News also publishes a fortnightly Africa edition that is supported by the Ford Foundation. University World News distributes its free newsletter to 28,300 registered users in 150 countries. It has been careful to be highly selective in alerting potential subscribers in the academic community to its free-of-charge service and follows established practice in providing registered users with the option of ceasing to receive its newsletter on request.

It was sole media partner to the Unesco World Conference on Higher Education in 2009 and a media partner to the OECD's Institutional Management in Higher Education conference in Paris in September 2010.
