Ideas for the Sage logo:

Something involving an owl (I know we are trying to get away from the Bryn Mawr-y feel, but we happened to choose a name that would work very well with an owl...)
A pen/quill pen -- wisdom & the ability to communicate knowledge & experiences for the benefit of others
SAGE written in all caps, the S, G, and E in a bold yet refined font, the "A" inside a lantern where the owl usually appears. The "A" would be a good letter to do this with because the owl has a basic shape of an upside-down "A." Also, an "A" usually has a positive connotation -- it is associated with success & hard work. We could choose which color we want to have for the lantern. If we choose red (our class color), we could use that as a way to emphasize what we discussed in class a few days ago -- the meaning of the word "sophomore." If we want to include the rest of the campus, we could break the white space around the "A" into parts and use green, light blue, red, and dark blue -- and maybe even purple (as a follow-up on a comment made in class today about why the McBride lanterns are purple).
Everytime I think if Sage, I think of a balding old man with glasses. We can make him look comical or serious...depending on what we want as the "feel" for the magazine.
