We are the Essential Staff By Samara Schwartz
It's always nice to feel important and to know that what you do makes a difference.
Advice column: Ask the Sage
Letter number one
Dear Sage,
I love the snow -- don't get me wrong. But after a while, not even Rugby vs. Crew Team snowball fights can keep the white wonderland that is Bryn Mawr near and dear to our hearts. When will life get back to normal?
Impatient in the Pems
Dear Unjustified Cabin Fever,
The intense days of paper-writing and trekking to the PSB will return before you know it, Sage promises you. In the meantime, pause to enjoy the snowdrifts and to celebrate the fact that our campus has survived the Blizzard of 2003, what has been referred to as the Storm of the Century.
There is a lot to do on campus when the libraries and Guild are closed if you know where to look. Consider collecting all three styles of Dining Services trays and put them to good use behind Rhoads or near the playing fields. Build snow sculptures on campus with a group of friends. Steal beets, carrots, and other veggies from the dining halls to garnish your wintery masterpieces. For inspiration, check out the lovely couple seated on the bench in the Haffner courtyard.
For fun indoors, watch movies with a group of friends and sip hot chocolate and/or flavored teas. Not getting enough exercise? Organize an indoor marathon with your hall (but make sure to do it during the day, outside of Quiet Hours -- which still apply, despite the long weekend!).
And our personal favorite: Put x7310 on speed dial and check it often to hear John Maloney latest updates.
Happy Snow Day, Sage
