There will be ice cream and lots of fun! It's an awesome movie with parts of the dialogue taken directly from the book. We really hope that you can join us, and look forward to seeing you there :) ~Julia Ferraioli P.S. Don't Panic! Message-ID: Dear CompSci students! I know that you probably think that you just read that subject line incorrectly, but yes, it did say blimp! The Computer Science Department has recently acquired the parts to construct a five and a half foot, fully functional blimp. The ultimate goal is to submit is to Drexel's Indoor Aerial Robot Competition (http://www.mem.drexel.edu/aerialRobotics/). There are videos down at the bottom of the page which you can view. We would like to invite you to participate in this blimp-building activity! None of us (even the professors) have any experience with building a blimp, so it will be a learning experience for all of us. We will then be writing a program to control it. Professor Blank is holding a meeting at 4pm on Friday in the Artificial Intelligence Lab (230) for people interested in this exciting project. You could participate in building the first ever Bryn Mawr College Blimp! We are in the process of finalizing course offerings in Computer Science for Fall 2006 and Spring 2007. I am writing to poll you all to see what your course needs are in this regard. That is, if you are majoring in Computer Science or doing a Minor (in Computer Science or Computational Methods) or if you are planning on pursuing one of these, then I need to hear from you. If you are already a declared Major/Minor, please get back to me with your course plan for next year. If you have not yet declared, please come and see me so I can help you declare and make a course plan. Please do this right away as this will impact exactly what courses we offer next year. Thank you. Blimp Session Tomorrow! Message-ID: Dear CompSci students/faculty, Just a friendly reminder to everyone, if you are interested in participating in our first ever blimp building activity, we are having our first meeting at 4pm Friday February 10th. The meeting will take place in room 230. An alumna, Kimberly Blessing, will be visiting after the meeting, so here is your chance to meet a mawrtyr who majored right here in this department! We hope to see you here at 4pm, tomorrow! Microsoft offers many attractive internships in computer science, human resources, marketing, finance, information technology and more. The representative will be Ioana Butoi, an alumna who graduated last year. She will be speaking at 4pm, room TBA, and will also be describing job opportunities with Microsoft. However, we need at least five people willing to come to be able to hold this session. We therefore ask that if you are interested, that you reply to this email. Just reply with a yes! If we do not get five replies, the information session will not take place. This is a great opportunity to hear about computer science in the corporate world, as well as to talk with an alumna about her experiences outside of Bryn Mawr. We hope to see you there. Message-ID: Hello CompSci Enthusiasts! This is a reminder to all of those interested that our second blimp meeting will be held tomorrow, Friday the 18th in the AI lab at 4pm. Last time was spent exploring and testing various parts such as the camera, the motors, the remote control and the balloon (with air, not helium!). Even if you weren't able to be there last week, you are still more than welcome to come this week! We are all still at the beginning, so the learning curve will be the same for all of us. We hope that you can come, and look forward to seeing you there!
