Coleman / IGERT at the University of Illinois / Application Information--deadlines approaching Date: Thu, 3 Dec 2009 10:31:22 -0600 From: Whitson, Leigh Ann To: Todd P. Coleman CC: Todd P. Coleman /I am sending you this message on behalf of Todd Coleman/University of Illinois/ Dear Colleagues: The University of Illinois IGERT Program is up and running: http://igert.beckman.illinois.edu/index.html The Neuroengineering IGERT program at Illinois will train graduate students in engineering and neuroscience to attack problems with a combination of scientific and engineering viewpoints. Research will focus on three thrusts; the first two showcase key core strengths that are unique to Illinois, while the third has potential for transformational impact in the future. The thrusts are 1) Audition, 2) Neuroimaging, and 3) Novel brain-machine interfaces. Much more information on our research areas, as well as the IGERT program, can be found on our website. This program has the goal of providing financial support over the two-year training period that consists of full stipend (NSF Fellowship: $30,000 level) and a contribution to tuition and fees. Eligible graduate students must be early in their graduate career, and US citizens or greencard holders. We encourage you to send this message to any eligible student (US citizens/greencard holders) who is interested in applying for graduate study at the University of Illinois. Students will apply to their desired home departments following departmental guidelines. They can then submit their application to IGERT through our website (https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/6406695). Various common departmental application deadlines are noted on this application page. Please visit our website for all of the details. Deadlines are quickly approaching, so we are encouraging those wishing to apply to do so soon! Todd P.
