Also, tomorrow two prospective students are visiting the campus and at least one of them is interested in CS. IS any one available to take them to lunch in the Dining Hall (around noon) and then bring them back to the lab (at 1:00p)? Thanks, Deepak. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Informational Event for computer science majors Date: Mon, 25 Jan 2010 21:00:12 -0500 (EST) From: Alison Panosian To: slindell@haverford.edu, jd@cs.haverford.edu, davew@cs.haverford.edu, Douglas Blank , Deepak Kumar , Dianna Xu Dear Computer Science Major Professors in the Bi-Co, I was wondering if you could pass this information along to your students. On Wednesday January 27th from 7-9 in Thomas Great Hall, Bryn Mawr College will be holding a Career Information Session, with students in the Postbac Program. We have over 10 postbacs sharing their experiences in various career areas: law, business, marketing, and health for example. One of the postbacs, Eric Faden was a computer scientist working at Microsoft. I think that it would be very useful for your students to come to this event and hear about Eric's experience. Below is a short biography that you can circulate to your majors: Eric attended Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science, graduating with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Robotics. During my time at Carnegie Mellon he interned at the National Institutes of Health's National Cancer Institute doing statistical programming and also at Microsoft working as both a SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) for Sustained Engineering and a SDE (Software Development Engineer) for Avalon (part of Windows Vista). After that Eric worked at the National Institutes of Health doing research with monkeys. He ultimately wound up at Clearspring Technologies as a Senior Software Engineer. Eric has experience with many programming languages, software designs and robotics. I would really appreciate your help in publicizing this information, via class announcements or email.
