Hope you all had either a productive summer, or a relaxing, one... or both! :) This Thursday, Aug 25, between 10:30 and 1:30 is the annual Academic Fair. I'm looking for some students to help talk to new students about taking computer science courses. This is an excellent way to meet new students, and introduce them to a topic that they may never have considered. Can you help? You wouldn't need to commit to the entire time, and the college will buy your lunch. Let me know if you are able; thanks for considering! See you soon, -Doug -- Douglas S. Tell your friends about the intro courses: Section #1: Eaton, Eric R. TTH 2:15pm-3:45pm, PK349 Section #2: Blank, Douglas MW 2:30pm-4:00pm, PK349 Section #3 Russo, Mark F. TTH 4:00pm-5:30pm, Room TBA Unfortunately, that means that the CS380 Cloud Computing course won't be offered this semester. However, there is a new advanced topics course in its same place and time (Tues 7pm-9pm): "Androids: Design and Practice." This is a new course focused on using the department's new humanoid Nao robots, and using the Kinect 3D camera. We'll be using the language Lua (also used in many modern computer games, like World of Warcraft) and designing algorithms and code for a team of robots to play soccer.
